and in the interests of recognizing that there are wackos on the left as well as the right

I'm signed up on a bunch of progressive email lists, and maybe I'm just getting cynical in my old age, but they sound awfully off to me today.

Example #1: Moveon.org emailed asking me to call Rep. Cynthia McKinney to vote "no" on a resolution. Well, I could... but check the news, I don't know if she has time to fit that into her busy schedule of being COMPLETELY FUCKING BATSHIT.

Example #2: Democracy for America says Tom DeLay is being a chicken and therefore for every $50 raised today, they will send him a rubber chicken. How many fucking rubber chickens do you need to make your point? And don't you dare ask me for any more money when you're spending it on rubber fucking chickens. This shit is why people call us the party of fiscal irresponsibility.

I got that DFA shit this morning too. I emailed back to let them know I'd rather give my $50 to a local food bank so they can buy some real chickens for people to eat. You know. Make a real difference? Idiots.

I get surveys from both the republicans and the democrats. Often both are asking the same questions, but in rather amusingly different ways. Generally, I write comments all over the margins, which probably invalidates my survey, but it amuses me to do so. If they read my comments, good. If they don't, then I approve of their being forced to take the time to process the survey.

Example one made me laugh out loud. Yes, totally batshit.

I think the entire left wing of a Democratic party has major problems with who they choose to represent them.

Organizations sending rubber chickens and Michael Moore are not ways to make a difference in America.

Ah, but when you're completely fucking batshit, you don't care about schedules. :)

I'll admit I try not to get deeply involved in the particulars of politics, when the generals are effed up enough, but....

Why would the Democracy for America guys want to taunt Delay for leaving? They should be throwing a confetti party, not buying rubber chickens.

Maybe somebody donated the rubber chickens...

...nah.

That's the problem with extremists on both sides--although I'd rather deal with extremists who send rubber chickens than commit acts of violence. They're all batshit.

If they put their energies towards something useful instead of sniping at each other, imagine how much could get done.

I too got that. That's ludicrous. I didn't end up emailing back (was on my way out to work) but for god's sake, what the hell is the POINT? There were like twenty gazillion gloating DeLay emails today, and I wanted to say "shut up, it's not like we've WON anything yet, guys, quit gloating".

Well, I could... but check the news, I don't know if she has time to fit that into her busy schedule of being COMPLETELY FUCKING BATSHIT.

HAHAHAHA!

I have missed these posts :)
