Let us consider...

I've been lusting for a Permanent Account for years.

Today, and today only, I can have one.

I know I would get my money's worth. I've already had this thing almost four years, with all the shiny extras tacked on. The only thing is, I haven't exactly been writing much lately. Am I over the whole LJ thing? I can't be! [livejournal.com profile] atomicnumber51 and I have been talking about how we wish we'd had these in college (then again, with the level of DRAHMA LJ seems to bring, probably not) and how they're going to be such fascinating records of our lives! To us, anyway.

I guess what I'm saying is, this all comes down to a fear of commitment. Do you, [livejournal.com profile] kellinator, take this LiveJournal... aaugh!!

Why in the world did they only give us 24 hours in which to purchase these accounts? This is the most ridiculous once-in-a-blue-moon offer LJ has ever presented!

actually they announced the sale over two weeks ago and you also have up to 30 days after the sale to pay for an perm account via check or money order, so you have a bit more time than just one day.

I did see the original post offering the permanent accounts, but I would still need a couple more days to get them a "good" check.

well you could always wait til the end of the month when you do have money and fedex the payment to them. ;)

You make a good point.

[identity profile] legolastn.livejournal.com 2005-06-07 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's kinda the point. A lot of people didn't think they'd ever offer paid permanent accounts again period. So, any sort of opportunity is in and of itself remarkable.

I just wish that my hope could have held out a little bit longer, heh.

The timing on this is awful. Couldn't they have waited until after I bought the house and paid for the wedding? Then I'd have an extra $300 around to blow!

DOOOOO IIIIIIT!!!!!

[identity profile] darkmattr.livejournal.com 2005-06-07 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Does this mean I have to make you 50 more icons?

[identity profile] ydnic.livejournal.com 2005-06-07 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing has quite been able to provide me with as much amusement over the past three years as LJ...so, I did it. (via check). The way I figure it, even if my f-list dwindles down to 0 users, I'll still have a more-or-less permanent record of my 00s insanity. ;-)

I think it's overpriced now. It was one thing at four times an annual paid, but six is getting greedy (unless they plan to increase paid account prices until it's four times again.)

I figure they'll make at least a million dollars today.

[identity profile] 10dimensions.livejournal.com 2005-06-07 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it is still a payoff in four [plus change] for those of us who are icon whores, and who have been buying the extra icon package. ;)

[identity profile] kellinator.livejournal.com 2005-06-07 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Which I have been buying. So maybe it is worth it.

[identity profile] alfabettezoupe.livejournal.com 2005-06-07 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
well they did make a pretty good case for the fact that there a lot of new features that have been added since the accounts were $100 each.

i love my permanent account. i know i'm always going to get priority on certain things and that i'll always get to try out new stuff first. i never have to worry about losing paid time for days when lj may be having technical issues and i'll never lose my 50 icon ability.

There are those of us that would really enjoy if you wrote more and will continue to enjoy whatever you write. I don't know if that's an endorsement of permanent accounts but it's a data point of some sort...
