Okay, my friends list has reached the point where I have so many people that my userinfo page is fucked up. I'm mainly trying to figure out who's abandoned LiveJournal. I don't really want to make cuts on the list, but I may be forced to soon simply by time constraints. If that does end up happening, please don't get pissed at me. I like you all.

I am a bit confused here. Shouldn't who is on your friends list be more a function of whose journal YOU read and not the other way around?

When you've got a couple billion people you're reading, there are some you're keeping around out of politeness, and because they read you regularly. If it's discovered that you're mutually skimming with someone you don't have a close in-person relationship with, you may elect to stop skimming them altogether in order to focus more on other things.

I have a Friends List of Doom, see. It ceases to be really "friends" somewhere after 100, I think...

I haven't played with it much, but you can also set up a "default" friends list page/filter. That would not show you everyone's posts when you go to your friends page.

Friend really means who you want reading your locked posts. There does not have to be a direct correlation with who you read...
