My monthly making-with-the-Gotham-Central-*lurve*

Hey [livejournal.com profile] estimatdprophet, you said to give you a heads-up when the new Gotham Central story arc started up, and here it is. Well, actually I phone-posted it last night, but no one was bored enough to transcribe it, so here you go. And boy howdy is it starting with a bang (literally and figuratively) -- shades of not one but two of the all-time great Homicide storylines.

Two words: clean shoot.

Crispus Allen and Renee Montoya are what Pembleton and Bayliss would have been if Frank weren't a dick and Tim weren't a wuss. *warm fuzzies for the partner love*

Or possibly what Beau and Kay would have been if Beau weren't a total fuckup.

Okay, for my own idle curiosity, how many of you have I gotten hooked on Homicide and/or Gotham Central? Inquiring minds want to know.

EDIT: If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, check this entry:

Wazzat?

Can't WAIT to hear what you think. :)

I heart partner love. It's why I like Rescue Me, too. That whole squad thing rules.
Have not had a chance to get the comic though. Very little extra $.

Ah.

Um. ~squirm~

I don't um ...

read ... comics.

I know, I know! This can get me tar and feathered in some circles, stoned in others, considered the local LJ pariah by still others ...

Or all of the above.

But still. I do not read graphic novels and I am damn proud of it!

Okay. Maybe that's a little overboard. Let's just say I never got into em. More copies for you, then!

Hoo-boy.

Those two words have me very, very excited.

It's cool. We've all got our own brand of geek!

Are you having a geekgasm?

[identity profile] rocketmelee.livejournal.com 2004-09-10 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
I've become heartily addicted to Homicide, thanks to your posts and my Mom's impeccable television programming taste. I have yet to find a reasonably near-by comic book store, so I am denied Gotham Central. And the end of Transmetropolitan, which should tell you how long I have been with out comics.

OT PS

To make up for the Snark delay, you will eventually be recieving funky "used to be an AOL CD" recycled jewlery. But I'll be sending that seperately, so some Snark is sent speedily ( a little alliteration is lovely when it isn't lurid -- dontcha think?)

I'm just weird.

Like the Ally Sheedy kind of weird where I put pixie straw candy on my sandwich and go to detention because I had nothing else to do that day.

Oh, no rush! Actually, do you remember what we talked about where you said you had extra sculpey? Are you still amused by the idea of playing with an extra-special scepter?

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

I'm hoping on email right now!

Mmm, if I still read comics, I'd've checked out Gotham Central on your recommendation by now. But, alas, I do not.

Homicide I tried a few times when it was on, but never got into it (didn't even like the L&O crossovers). Don't know why -- I didn't think it was BAD, it just never "clicked" with me.

I DID try The Jury because of you (but, of course, it got cancelled very quickly).

Perhaps I can lend you my copy of the first graphic novel sometime.

I read all issues of Gotham Central up to Issues 13 I believe, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] groove_haircut. While the books were entertaining, I found myself just groaning with the CSI type references made through some of the issues and I am afraid that just turne dme off. Now don't get me wrong, I love CSI (Vegas only so far, though I am willing to give NY a shot), I just see everything jumping on the crime investigation band wagon and unfortunately that is a turn-off for me.

I guess I just prefer reading about the heroes, not the regular folks. I can watch shows about the regular folk.

Well, you got me hooked on GC.
I agree with what you said, but what the fuck was that stuff with Corrigan{sp?}
BTW wasn’t there a DC superhero who's secret identity was cop named John Corrigan?

[identity profile] stevietee.livejournal.com 2004-09-11 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
That'd be cool. :)
