Costume notes

I checked out Party City and I have a ton of wing options. Black feathers? Bat wings? Devil wings? Not deciding just yet. Also, I definitely need fishnets. And I'm considering fake eyelashes, just for the hell of it. I checked out a few tiaras, but nothing that stole my heart, so where do you people go when you need a good tiara?

How about instead of a tiara, something woven through your hair. The options that come to mind are black ribbon, black flowers, strips of gossip mags, vhs tape, that cob webby stuff, lots of little comic character clips.

Claire's Boutique has about 50 tiaras. OK, maybe more like 12.

They had a nifty tiara on display at Nordstrom for a while, but I never looked at it...I'm sure it was expensive.

I got my bridal tiara through this place--they have less expensive ones that might work.

I say go for devil wings!

Elton John.

I saw his special documentary - "Tantrums and Tiaras." He's got a shitload of them.

I got a tiara for $8 at a wig store downtown. I also have a pair of angel wings that you're more than welcome to borrow. You can spray paint them black or whatever color you like...I don't see myself wearing them again anytime soon.

Tiara - Michael's wedding section! :)

This is going to be such fun!!

[identity profile] rocketmelee.livejournal.com 2004-08-21 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Michael's has some really GOOD tiaras. Otherwise, you can generally find okay ones at costume shops and other party decorations stores. Any place that sells homecoming-type stuff, too.

Some of the most awesome tiaras I have seen (and the biggest) have been in the toy department of stores, including cheap stores. and the cheaper, usually the flashier. Even the Dollar tree has em.

Gail K fabrics on Cheshire Bridge Rd. has some tiaras, and the prices aren't bad.

I have one from Claire's Boutique and also another from a department store. The dept. store ones are expensive, though.

Um, I just read your words of wisdom in the side bar and I think I might just wet myself. Thank you, I needed that laugh on this Monday morning.

That's from the very first episode of Homicide. It's addressed to a character played by the same guy who later played Eugene (?) on The Practice.

I ordered the first Homicide disc from Netflix. Unfortunately, it seems that there are only "selected episodes" from seasons 1 & 2, although subsequent seasons are complete. Tell me it ain't so?

[identity profile] kellinator.livejournal.com 2004-08-23 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? I don't know what's up with that. Season 1 only had 9 episodes and Season 2 only had 4. Does it say which episodes they are?

[identity profile] bossieboots.livejournal.com 2004-08-23 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that must explain it, b/c it says Season 1 & 2, 13 episodes. I didn't realize there was that short of a season...
