Nosy nosy nosy!!

I'm ripping this poll off from the always-interesting [livejournal.com profile] alfabettezoupe, because I'm curious.

[Poll #331101]
azurelunatic: Vivid pink Alaskan wild rose. (Default)

To wit: I'm pagan, Dagger's agnostic/deistic, Naomi's Christian, and I think Marah's some form of pagan too.

Wow, Unitarians repraZENT!

Somebody on Usenet just told me I'm a Deist. I guess that's accurate; I grew up Unitarian and blew through a few others before I finally got to Paganism, followed by my current belief that everybody's pretty much right about God, except when they think He/She/It is all that interested in us. Omnipotent deities have bigger fish to fry.

What about nonsectarian Christian?

[identity profile] gaiagurl.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
isn't that what she's got there?

[identity profile] jennay138.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
you're right; i need to read better.:)

[identity profile] bouncepogo.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish you'd have made it checkbox instead of radio button.

[identity profile] legolastn.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I also want check boxes. :)

[identity profile] branwynelf.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Put me as a third for this one. :)

For the record - when pressed I say "pagan" since that answers mostly where my path lies, however for this poll I said "other." That's coz I incorporate elements of celtic, native american, buddhist, and now even Christian beliefs and practices into my personal spiritual path.

[identity profile] phinnia.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I consider myself a buddhist taoist with hindu leanings and some jewish flavouring, interested in unitarianism as a concept (which would be what I'd pick if I had to pick a western-leaning church).

Ah but does your religion have a definition? ;)

I don't think she was asking for you to define who you are, just what path you follow. Seems to me a valid question, especially since she left it open with "other" there too (which is what I went with!)

Yeah.

It's like asking me what color my dog is or what brand of motorcycle I drive. (I have neither a dog nor a motorcycle, for the record.)

I hit atheist, because it's the closest in principle, but I think I've decided that the question is absurd and irrelevant.

[identity profile] blackacre.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I tend to agree with those who asked for checkboxes. I'm an atheist in that I don't believe in god, but ethnically - most of my relatives are Jewish and I do feel somewhat tied to the culture...even though I don't practice the religion (nor was I ever bat mitzvahed...)

Other==Apatheist, which in my case parses to, Don't know, Don't really care.

[identity profile] tenn-crichton.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't have a category for god-fearing agnostic.

[identity profile] slyfoot.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Agnostic theist (specifically Christian). I'm going by T.H. Huxley's definition rather than the popular misconception that agnostic=undecided.

This is like the third one of these I've done in a couple of weeks, and what I want to know is WHERE IN THE SAM HILL ARE ALL THE BUDDHISTS? No one has had any Buddhist respondents. I'm going to have to do one of these myself, just so some Buddhists can represent ('cause I know I've got a couple). Also, in all three polls I've done, I'm all alone. I'm just going to have to do one of these myself, 'cause now I'm really curious about the makeup of my FL (I know I have two other Muslims, though).

[identity profile] hotcoffeems.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
O.K., now you have 3 Buddhists.

It does intrigue me how the demographics shake out on these polls...

[identity profile] idioticpoet.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe in poetic idiocy. Just haven't filed the paperwork with the gov't yet.

Technically speaking, I'm Catholic. I'm just REAAALLLY bad at it. But, as far as I can tell, so is most of the church, so it works for me.

[identity profile] jerseygirl1.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha! I like that response!!! :-)

[identity profile] daoistraver.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
episcopalian gnostic daoist

yeah, I know...
but it makes sense to me.

[identity profile] jerseygirl1.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
ACtholic... which is technically Christian, but SOME Christians of the protestant variety will say that Catholics are not Christian.
