Why I'm so tired

Last night [livejournal.com profile] alison_says, the LJ-less Brent and Kelly, and I ventured out to the Yes concert at Philips Arena. None of us really listen to Yes, but the tickets were free, so what the hell. It was a very odd experience. See, growing up in Pulaski we never had concerts. And then I got to college and saw a lot of cool concerts. Then I moved to Atlanta and I pretty much only go to concerts here if it's something I really really want to see. So, if I'm at a concert chances are I'm excited and it's going to be an active experience for me. Well, we were sitting there watching the band and I was eating French fries and it hit me how utterly detached I was from the whole experience. Like, I almost expected to pull out a remote control and go surfing. It was a very passive and surreal experience.

Then during intermission we went to check out the suite we had access to. We could hear, but we couldn't see the stage because of the set. But we were so little into the music that we ended up hanging out in the suite watching South Park. I was a little embarrassed that I went to a concert and ended up watching TV but hey, it was South Park.

Then we went back to Brent and Kelly's and watched even more TV until way too late and played with the cats and ferrets.

Oh, and we saw [livejournal.com profile] christine9600 and [livejournal.com profile] thegreyman! They were quite surprised to see us there, but for some reason I wasn't surprised at all. LiveJournal makes for a small world.

As a Yes fan, I'm sorely disappointed in you.

I concur.

I would of killed for those tickets. I told 31F last night at practice that if I had tickets for YES I would not be standing in the room about to practice.
YES is a close second to RUSH in terms of a huge influence on me and my songwriting.

Been there, done that. I used to work for a company that had a couple of luxury boxes at the local arena. Nobody wanted the tickets for the Phish concert, so I got a couple for Destructo and me (he's the only non-pothead who loves Phish, I guess).

I spend much of my time eating complimentary yummies and napping on the comfy couch, and he had a great time watching the concert.

Brent and Kelly? GaTech/DramaTech people?

Small world. [grin]
