The latest stop on the neverending merry-go-round that is Kelly's hair color

"Kelly's hair is not any color found in nature." --[livejournal.com profile] blueingenue

Last night Mom and I were on the phone and I casually mentioned that I was going to go home and dye my hair. She immediately started having a fit. "WHY?!" The way she was carrying on, you'd think I'd just told her I was going to go smoke some crack and then club baby seals.

So what's the latest?

Red. Really, really red. Feria Power Red Ruby Rush. This may be the reddest I've ever taken it. Magenta even.

My co-workers have long since gotten used to me coming in with new and unnatural hair colors, but I can't wait to see what the rest of y'all think of it...

And yes, before you all can start yelling at me at once, I will try and get a picture up...

Love the icon pic

If that is the new color, I highly approve.

Really cool pic of you . . .

Actually, that's the old color. But thank you!

I did that color. Liked it - great autumn color for me.

Hope it lasts longer for you than it did me, though.

Well, I left it on for like an hour, so we'll see...

I have better luck with color if I use L'Oreal's Colorvive shampoo and conditioner.

Just a little FYI.

And for the first time since 1994, I have let my hair go natural color.... grey and all. I have a Judi Dench cut with a lot of white/grey in the front... you go girl.. if it makes you happy... then do it

[identity profile] kellinator.livejournal.com 2004-03-31 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooooh, cool. Judi Dench is so sophisticated and elegant!!

Why is red the "in" color for women these days? My wife dyed her hair red, too (though she's back to natural color now).

Like [livejournal.com profile] spiritchaser1 says below, redheads are wicked and fun!!

[identity profile] poprockgrrl.livejournal.com 2004-03-31 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
Wow that is red! Yay for red!!!

[identity profile] kellinator.livejournal.com 2004-03-31 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Wait till I post new pics. It's even redder now...

[identity profile] spiritchaser1.livejournal.com 2004-03-31 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! Hurray for wicked redheads. ;)

When I started dyeing my hair last year, it was like getting a whole new license on life...

[identity profile] laurel714.livejournal.com 2004-03-31 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a natural brunette. I used to feel sorry for the red-haired girls in school because they were taunted mercilessly. Now I want to kill them because when boys grow out of the "taunting" stage, they REALLY like red hair. I went blonde a couple of years ago. Amazing the difference in how people treat you when your hair is a different color. As a blonde, men opened doors for me and generally acted like I was a damsel in distress. As a brunette they fear me because I'm smarter than them. :::wicked grin::: Now I like to be "amber" with "honey hi-lites."

Only me, God and my hair-dresser know what color my hair really is.

your new icon is hot.

[identity profile] phyrra.livejournal.com 2004-04-01 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
since i am a fan of hair colors not found in nature (on myself, my friends and my husband), good for you! It's a good way to express yourself.
I can't wait to see it.
And Ray can relate on the parents, they always hate him dyeing his hair and he's 33!

To quote you, "JESUS FUCK!" It's new Goth Kelly, with Eat Your Spleen action! ;-)

Kidding aside, I like the hair color hon. The 'death to your family unto the fourth generation' look is a keeper too.

*grin*

I'm not completely sure why everyone does red, but I've been doing it fairly regularly since I was 17, and that was a good 15 years ago. I have thrown a purple and magenta and pink in there. But really, mostly red.

Plus, I am also a huge fan of the unnatural looking reds. The red red red red. Every now and then I consider doing a primary red, but I worry about it. I bet you could carry it off, though.

As it is, I spend every day at work having tons of people point to my hair and say to their friend, "see, that right there is the color I want."

Expect that the more intense your red becomes.

Oh, and if you want some interesting variations in the red, I highly suggesting lightening some chunky bits here and there. Then when you dye, those much lighter areas get to show up *MUCH* brighter. It's great.
