So many rants, so little time

The problem with Mondays (well, one of the many) is that I inevitably have many many things that I want and need to rant about and no time to do it. Where to start? Where to start?

• 99X's morning show used to be a great guilty-pleasure way for me to start my day. Yeah yeah yeah, bitch at me all you like for not listening to NPR instead, but I am a shallow shallow girl, I never told you otherwise, and I like my morning frivolity. 99X used to give me a lot of laughs in the morning while crossing the lines of good taste. But with the move of that obnoxious asshole Toucher to the morning show, the whole thing has become a train wreck. Toucher interrupts everyone and everything to the point where Leslie, who is the only one with a brain, and Jimmy, who is much funnier in his jackassness than Toucher, cannot get a word in edgewise and appear to have just given up.  He's abrasive, rude, and stupid. This morning he was amusing himself by bitching about his live-in girlfriend and performing his impersonation of her, which went beyond unflattering into plain-out cruel. When said girlfriend called in to rightfully object, he ended up further humiliating her and making her promise to kiss his feet. I may mock many things for entertainment value, but this was just plain disgusting. I kept waiting for her to dump him, but, y'know, if she wants to stay with someone that revolting, well, that's her business.

• Why can't people accept that some days I am just not up for meaningless small talk?
• [rant which I may or may not make later under a lock, depending on how much my job is pissing me off]
• I haven't gotten what I'd call a good night's sleep for at least the past four nights. Possibly more. This is turning me into even more of a raging bitch than usual. All I know that tonight is going to involve something decadent for dinner (okay, it'll probably be something from the hot bar at the Dekalb Farmer's Market, but that's plenty good trust me -- we're talking the best fried chicken I've found in Atlanta and some truly wonderful things with tofu), a fuzzy bathrobe, and whatever else it takes to get me to feel like a human being again.

I only occassionally tune in to 99X now, and in fact, I listened for a minute this morning -- were either Leslie or Jimmy on today? All I heard was Toucher and Wally blabbering on to each other, trying to pretend like they're doing the news. They're both morons, so I switched over to Q100 for the rest of my commute (better than Steve & Vikki!).

I checked, and as far as I could tell Jimmy and Leslie were actually there, but cowed into submission by the moronic blatherings of the Idiot Twins.

Got any decent recommendations for a morning radio station that won't make me want to gouge my eardrums out?

Unfortunately not. I tend to listen to Q100's Bert Show when I listen to anything, it's easier to listen to than Toucher at least -- I try to flip around various stations to listen to music. I occassionally stop on NPR so I can sound intelligent later in the day ("Hey, did you all hear that story about Deadly Mexican Staring Frogs from Southern Sri Lanka that was on NPR this morning...?") but I'm ashamed to say it usually bores me out of my mind!

99x is always touting that suggestion line that they have- maybe people should call in. i would have to agree, though...toucher is an ass. i used to want to go into radio, but i realized that i'm not an insensitive prick. it must be nice to get paid a disproportionately large salary to work about 25 hours a week, go to concerts for free, meet celebrities, get free shit all the time, and on top of it all to be allowed to be an asshole to the very listeners that put you on the air without consequence. it must be real nice to be a soulless asshole. chances are his gf isn't staying with him for his looks and personality.

Wow, I have to be an insensitive prick? I guess I better start working on that. I'm one of those radio guys in the same vein as Wolfman Jack rather than Howard Stern. I'm naturally a decent guy and I think that comes across on my show...maybe...I hope. But Toucher is one of those DJs I'd like to see get shit-canned. He is a total asshole.

i haven't been in years, but there are times that i still get cravings for the samosas from the Dekalb Farmers Market. They aren't very authentic Indian food, but they are unlike any other samosas I've had...mmmm

I haven't listened to the morning X in months.
After Barnes left, I listened to the Don Miller Morning Show (wtf is that all about anyway) for about a week and then gradually started listening to the Bert Show. A lot of the music on the Bert Show gets on my nerves but I can deal with it better than I can that asshat Toucher.

Fred Toucher is hilarious. I think he's the best thing to happen to morning radio in this city in a long time. I was never a big fan of Steve Barnes, and I'm glad he's gone.
