On a lighter note...

I invite you all to imagine what would happen if I told my mom to be here by Friday night, then took her to Margarita Friday.

Imagine the look on my mother's face as [livejournal.com profile] 10dimensions snatches the menu out of her hand and informs her "You want a Heavy Texas Rita. Trust me."

I'd invite you to imagine Mom at the afterparty, but that's too scary even for me.

Ya know, you ARE an adult now... and you may be surprised how your Mom actually acts.

Oh, trust me, I'd like to be surprised...

My Mom surprised me a few times... it is amazing how they will respect you when you are bold enough to be an adult around them.

Hey, she may surprise you! You could bring her to Margarita Friday, ger her all liquored up, then take her to the party. Don't worry, if she drinks a Heavy Texas, she won't *remember* the party. ;-)

Hee hee. That's a good idea!

Drinking is a good way to get on equal adult footing with your parents (I did it with my (much older) siblings this year, it was cool). She's an adult, you're an adult, why can't you be friends?

Actually, I think she and I get along pretty well, all things considered. And this trip will probably be a good thing, once we get the damn details ironed out...

Mom and I actually get along pretty well (things just get strained when she tries to tell me what to do, which is often). I'm hoping this trip will be a good thing, once we get the details ironed out.

Does your mom not drink?

Heh heh... she's a cheap date. One year on New Year's Eve she had like half a glass of wine, then wobbled around the house going "IthinkIgunnagowatchTVinthebedroomnow." I was like "cut it out, Mom, you're not THAT drunk."
