kellinator: (SVU by frey_at_last)

I hate myself for loving formulaic TV

I watched SVU last night, and I had the patented "Law and Order twist" figured out by 10:29. I think that's a personal record. I also think I should get extra points because it wasn't a twist that they had already used six times (yet still advertised as "shocking"). Actually, as far as L&O goes it was unusually shocking. And even for SVU, high on the squick factor. It was, like, first-season squick levels without the saving grace of Munch actually getting to do something. Okay, the bad haircut makes it official, Munch is being wasted. Dick Wolf should either give him a spinoff (face it, he's more popular than a badly-used supporting character has any right to be) or send him over to L&O Original Formula to bicker with Briscoe. Oh!! Wait!! I've got it!! Send Munch and Fin to Criminal Intent to snark on Goren for being such a know-it-all!! Man, I am so much better at network programming than Jeff Zucker. Unfortunately dirt is better at network programming than Jeff Zucker so I'm unlikely to get recognized for my talents anytime soon. Guys, call me. I work cheap. Just ask my current employer. Better yet, create a new position for me. Junior Executive in Charge of Making Sure Munch Gets Written Right and Smacking Dick Wolf When He Gets Out of Control.

That'd be one heck of a business card.

Would it not be the most kick-ass business card you've ever seen?

Can I be your assistant? Please? It was funny cause that particular twist was one I use as a joke to snark on how weird the twists get. So I was like "Dude, I was kidding!" Dick Wolf reads my brain...but he's irony-deficient.
Wasted Munch makes Yahweh cry. And that hair. Paging the Fab five... how funny would that be?

Queer Eye for the Homicide Guy. With the whole squad. Timmy crushing on one or more of the Fab Five. The boys trying to make over Kay while they're at it. Come on. You know you want to write this fanfic.

That's right...tempt me with the shiny objects.

Very squick inducing. I figured it out as soon as they said her baby was from a relative. And you know, I really can't blame the guy's wife for shooting him repeatedly.

I knew she was the killer as soon as I heard "Jane Seymour." Every beloved star who guests on SVU "as you've never seen them before!!" kills someone. I will snark on this in the currently-in-devlopment drinking game.

Yeah, I hate that on all of the L&O shows -- the famous guest stars almost always do it (and when they show up early in the episode and appear to be unconnected, you KNOW they'll be back later!). The Julia Roberts episode REALLY stood out like that, for me -- I find her to be a completely unconvincing actress.

I was really hoping it would be Supergirl instead.

So, tonight's episode is another ripped from the headlines. And I called it the day it happened. A Brooklyn councilman was shot in City Hall by someone he let in (council members and their guests didn't have to go through the metal detectors). Apparently this guy wanted to have his council seat. After I got over being stunned (which happens quickly in NY) my first thought was, "Hey, this'll be on Law & Order next season."

I'll also be watching the scenery again. :-)

I hear you on Jeff Zucker. I want to draw and quarter him over what he did to Ed.

the thing bout L&O SVU or CI isnt figuring out the who done it as more as the WHY they did it. thats what it is about.

But that's why it's crap. Most murderers aren't Hannibal Lecter with the cunning plans and shit. Most murderers are Faith on "Buffy"(not as hot): Want. Take. Have. That's it.Don't think ahead. Don't think of another way out...just let your life telescope so much all you see is that insurance money.
