It's only Tuesday and I already want a do-over for the week.

So yesterday sucked in a lot of sucktastic ways that suck too much for me to detail them right now. But hey, every morning's a new start, right? I was on my way out the door, running a couple of minutes late but nothing I expected to be a problem, and I went to grab my glasses.

...And they were nowhere to be found.

I checked all the usual spots. No glasses. I checked them again. No glasses. I started checking unusual spots, like the washing machine and the refridgerator. Still no glasses.

This was getting worse by the minute, because I am bat-blind without my glasses, I don't have a spare pair, and something happened to one of my contacts last fall and every time I try to wear it I wind up looking bloodshot and creepy. (Obviously, I have not done anything about the contacts because I am fucking lazy.)

In humiliation, I called Will to let him know what was going on and luckily for me, he was very sympathetic, also being a wearer of glasses and all. In fact, we now have a great idea for a children's book about glasses that run away to have an adventure and meet lost keys and remote controls.

Finally, in abject frustration and about three minutes from trashing my entire apartment (like you'd be able to tell, it's a mess), I dumped the mattress on one side. Still no glasses. But after replacing the mattress, I looked down and saw, on top of my fuzzy slippers where they were definitely not thirty seconds before, my glasses.

I'm still not sure precisely where they were or how they got there, but they don't seem to be bent or otherwise damaged. And today, that rates as a reason to be positively gleeful.

It's a fairly new development for me to be wearing them regularly. I need to get some new userpics up anyway...

ah, me too me too. i don't wear mine all the time, just for distance. driving and classes take up a good chunk of my time though.

I relate. My vision was pretty good when I was a kid, growing up watching "Scooby Doo" and wondering how Velma could possibly lose her glasses ... come to think of it, with those horn-rims, she MUST have been very nearsighted. I lose mine because they're wire rims and blend into the background very easily.

Whereas my theory is that, by fooling around with the mattress, you reversed the direction of the mini-wormhole that you didn't know is located in your room. If you later discover all the other items you've lost while living in your apartment, my theory will be confirmed.

Of course, my theory would also be confirmed if most of Georgia simply disappears....

Shhhh...don't tell the rest of your friends that I told you this...but the reason nobody informed you of the wormhole in your room is: If you knew about the wormhole in your room, we couldn't point and laugh anymore when you curse yourself for a hopeless scatterbrain. :-D
