Ice? Yeah, whatever.

So, are we really supposed to have an ice storm? Or is this yet another of those half-assed "it's kinda rainy and it's kinda cold so it must be an ICE STORM!!!" dealios cooked up by ratings-hungry local news in league with the supermarkets? I can practically guarantee you that people throughout the South are currently running out to buy milk, bread, and eggs, even those who never eat milk, bread, and eggs. And anyway, what's the deal with milk, bread, and eggs? I don't really buy milk and bread now that I live by myself because I never finish them before they go bad, and I've never gotten the big deal about eggs anyway. Maybe I'll run out after work and buy taquitos, cider and chocolate so I won't feel left out.

Personally, and yeah I know this is a really selfish thing to say so you don't need to remind me, but I could really do with an ice storm right now. It'd be a great excuse to lock myself in my apartment and not go out for love or money. I'd paint my miniatures and crochet my afghan and recharge my batteries.

I should have stayed in bed today. Even for a Monday, I just should have stayed in bed.

eggs keep for a fairly long time and you can make egg and cheese sammiches with them. usually best if you beat a little milk into the egg, and serve on bread ;)

Imagine being two feet tall, four years old, and not being able to see above the snow. That's snowstorms in Maryland, when i was i little.

*swoon* really? i went to maryland over the holidays and even though it didn't snow a lot while i was there i totally want to pack up and get a row house, like, right now. or one of those cute little cottages. i just adore the woodsiness and abundance of creeks.

Well, there actually was ice on the roads, bad enough to send 18-wheelers skidding on the freeway, just over the SC line in Anderson. And the thing about freezing rain is that the line between "cold and wet" and "two inches of ice" is very thin and hard to predict. So they'd usually rather be too careful.

Milk, bread and eggs = French toast!

If you divide a loaf of bread into two or three sections, you can freeze some. That should keep you from not using it before it goes bad, and if you want a sandwich right now and all you have is frozen bread, you can always toast it.
