Can you say "bread and circuses," boys and girls?

With all the talk about the media tide finally starting to be perhaps a little bit critical of Bush and Co., let's review the past couple of cover stories at that bastion of newsjournalism, Newsweek:

This week: Kobe Bryant
Last week: Friends

So, are you guys Newsweek or National Enquirer-week? Iraq's putting the Q in quagmire, and look at your hard-hitting journalism. Time uses you to line the litter box.

"If Chewbacca don't make any sense, you must acquit. Lookit the monkey!!" *splat*

To be fair, Newsweek has taken Dubya to task pretty nicely in the actual issues. But The Week is still the only worthwhile weekly.

You know, National Enquirer was the one to break the story about Rush Limbaugh's illegal pill purchasing...

.. all suck. Get the US edition of The Week
Just look at a copy at work, if you haven't, and you'll be hooked (and never want to read US Time and World Week for anything except cartoons and colouring. ;)
