Moral/legal question

This morning Will and I were discussing cloning ourselves (with references to the Calvin and Hobbes storyline where Calvin clones himself and mayhem ensues) and I made the comment, which got a big laugh from Will, that "If I had eight of me running around I think I'd probably kill 'em."

Now I'm wondering, would that be murder or suicide?

more importantly, if you had sex with one of them, would it be masturbation or rape?

Well now. Are they independent clones, or are you controlling them somehow? If they're independent, it's murder. :) If they're controlled and/or simply kept for body parts if you need them, then why put the brain in at all? Just keep them tucked away in a closet somewhere, safe and sound little vegetables, no mayhem.

There was a book that had that as part of the premise. "Spares" it was called... by Michael Marshall Smith.

But it seems to me that if I'm going to have clones, there should definitely be mayhem. This is probably because I watched too much television in my formative years...

Definitely murder. Sorry.

I would have to agree. But that doesn't mean anyone has to know...hell, you could use one of the bodies to fake your own death!
