Made it to games night last night at dwivian and elfgirl's, with madmexican and his lady love Dorothy and digitaldevil who I hadn't seen in forever and a whole bunch of people whose LJ names I can't remember because I am a dumbass. We decided to play Apples to Apples, which was cool with me because I was like the last person on earth who hadn't played it. Now I see why. That game is addictive. And I'd really like to test dwivian's declaration that it's even better with alcohol.

So the idea was tossed out that the words you win say something about you. Considering that the words I won were "dangerous," "odd," "misunderstood," "distinguished," and "obnoxious," I'm pretty concerned. Not to mention my other word, "Wookiee" (as in, "let the Wookiee win"). I have Dwiv to thank for this. Oh well, I guess everyone needs a dumb nickname or six...

I knew when I saw your subject line that you were talking about Apples to Apples. Doesn't it freaking rock? I love that game. The best combination ever? "Touchy-feely": Helen Keller! Bwahahaha.

Also, "Hitler" is the trump card. No matter what, Hitler wins. And if we have a blank one? Hitler. A blank description card? Hitleresque. We crack us up. :D

The basics of the game....cards are printed with nouns on them for the players to hold.

Each round a different player becomes judge, and draws from a different deck of adjectives. The judge presents the adjective, and people pick the noun they think best matches that adjective in the mind of the judge, and play it face down.

last player to put a card down has to take it back, thus making it a speed game.

Judge picks the best match, awarding the adjective card to the victor.

You play to a set number of adjective cards.

Lots of fun.
