My mom called me this morning to:

1). bug me about have I bought some stupid book my dad wants on Amazon;

2). announce that they're planning on coming to see me in three weeks (all together now: OH SHIT);

3). inform me that I accidentally hit some button on my phone this weekend and she got to hear me explaining to a third party that I have no self-esteem because of my parents.

I really don't want my parents to come visit.

Tell them it's not a good time, could they please come weekend X instead? I mean, you are a grown-up, you don't have to be victim to their whims.

You're absolutely right. The only problem is, I don't think there's going to be a weekend when I want to see them.

I assumed that was the case, but I figure, at least if you pick the weekend: 1. you're prepared 2. you don't have anything planned and 3. you set up a situation where you get to say no, which it seems to be is very important with your parents, to begin to establish your boundaries and your right to say no.
