Soliciting suggestions

Okay, tomorrow's the Big 2-5 (helpfully mentioned here because I know you all want to buy me presents ;) ) and my quarter-life crisis is in full swing (hell... it has been for years!), so I've decided I need a theme song for my "I'm 25 and I was supposed to have published two books and finished a Ph.D. by now but instead I'm an overeducated broke errand wench" quarter-life crisis. Any suggestions?

lots of sex and debatuary!! that cures everything!!

I am turning 30 next year... I have a LIST of things that were supposed to have happend by then, I don't even have an education and am not going to for at least another 6 years...

not everything turns out how we want it... but a lot of good things do...

sex and debatuary!! get you some!!

Debatuary? Is that like a bunch of sculptures that you can argue with? Sounds fun, but I think I'd rather have some debauchery. ;)

"I'm 25 and I was supposed to have published two books and finished a Ph.D. by now but instead I'm an overeducated broke errand wench"

I don't know, but this would make a great t-shirt ;-)

watch any Behind the Music or E True Hollywood Story. It should put things in perspective.

well 'unwell' by mb20 has sort of become my own quarter life crisis themesong... but i don't know how you feel about mb20 and you're also a lot more chipper about this than i am.
if it makes you feel anybetter, we're both turning 25 and you've gotten a lot more done than i have.

all i could think of when i turned 25 was the scene in 'singles' when bridget fonda says at 25 she thought she'd be married with 2 kids and people would be living in spacelocks.

no one has everything done they thought they would at any age. and if they do they're super agressive overachievers who have no hobbies or lives!

just remember you have a whole lifetime to do all the things you want. and the things you don't get done... well that's okay too :)

heh when I read this post I thought of that and then I thought of that scene in reality bites when ethan hawke tells winona ryder "honey, all you have to b by the age of 23 (she was 23, duh) is yourself"

If you can't be happy with what you've done, at least be happy with who you are. I'm five years older than you and I still haven't accomplished jack-squat. (I'm not too thrilled with who I am, either.) Happy birthday tomorrow.

*grunt*

M'lady, you should not feel that way, though I am one to talk.
When I turned 25, it was depressing. As a matter of fact, it was more than depressing - I felt like I had wasted my entire life so far. After all, I was nowhere near where my father was when he was 25 in terms of wealth or financial security.
Having turned 26 this past March, I suppose I could say I feel even more grim. After all, my brother is graduating with his degree in economics, will be attending graduate school in DC, and will be marrying his college sweetheart this June - and he's all of 22 as of the 28th of April.
Do you know something, though?
While I am envious of him marrying and settling down, as it were, I am not otherwise jealous.
His path is one of extreme mundanity. I have instead spent the time since I was 18 LIVING life, and I have a lot to show for it.
Errand girl? PAH! You have a bachelor degree, which is more than what I have now. It will take me YEARS to reach your level of formal education.
You haven't written books? Don't feel bad - most people don't till they reach an elder age.
I do think that you are too hard on yourself. You are a beautiful, engaging, and intelligent woman, and can do anything you set your mind to.
Hmmm.
I'll have to think of a way to shake you out of your malaise.
