[livejournal.com profile] sirinek will dig this.

Ooooh, look! They discovered new moons of Neptune!!

http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/01/14/neptune.moons.reut/index.html

I wonder what they'll name them... I think Uranus is the one with moons with Shakespearean names... they usually link to the planet's name... Amphitrite, perhaps?

This makes me long for all the knowledge of space and the solar system I had in my childhood. Dude, I knew my shit back then. I've forgotten so much... you can't know everything, but I miss that knowledge in particular.

Its not that we've "forgotten our shit", but that it has all changed so much! I used to be able to name all the moons for all the planets, but thanks to telescope technology and the Voyager probes, theres a bunch of new ones!

Completely un-related, but makes for good trivia.

And here is your random trivia tidbit time from Jane:

Did you know that on July 4th, 1826, 50 years after the Declaration of Independence, to the DAY! Thomas Jefferson and Jefferson Adams (sp?) died the same day.

Amazing Jane - who seems to learn stuff every day.
