Hmph.

Finally I can afford to buy the clothes I want (without my mom looking over my shoulder disapproving) and I CAN'T WEAR THEM because I'LL SCARE MY COWORKERS.

heh! I feel exactly the same way! [I dressed more to my liking on halloween, and actually scared one of the admins more than once.)

heh.

True Story: Last year, for Halloween, being in a pinch financially, I pretty much threw on a bunch of old shit ex-girlfriends (primarily my closet-goth former-future-fiancee) bought me.

So. Tricked out in way oversized leather pants, a too-tight black shiny t-shirt, these leather arm brace things from the renfest, my driving goggles, and electrical tape (around my knuckles and wrists! naughty!), I went about my daily tasks. When asked who I was, I was always either "The Ghost Of Shitty Clothes My Ex-Girlfriends Bought" or "Employee of the Month at Hot Topic."

So I go by the station to drop off some paperwork or for a meeting or something, and as I'm leaving, a co-worker asks what I'm supposed to be. I tell him, and as I head out the door, I hear the following:
"I'm glad you asked him... I wasn't sure if he was dressed up or not."
and then, to some visitor (corporate?! OMG)
"That's our station teenager."

I was 21.

oof.
