Ya-ya.

I haven't read Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, but Lillie has, and she told me she thought it was silly and overrated, so I'll probably pass on it. (Incidentally, this came up while she was telling me she thought I should be an editor because she thinks I have a good feel for what contemporary women like to read. I take this as a huuuuge compliment.)

But I couldn't resist finding out what my Ya-Ya name would be on the Ya-Ya Name Generator at moviephone.com. I came up Viscountess Shines Like the Sun.

That's nice, but I think I'm really more of a Duchess Quacks Like a Duck, or a Countess Chasing Kitties.

I sent Lillie her name. It was Empress Sitting Duck.

i LOVE divine secrets. it's worth reading if only to read about sidda's memories of her experiences with connor.

i highly, highly recommend that book.

it's not particularly "deep," but it's fun. at least, IMO. :)

Well, maybe I will try it sometime then... So much to read, so little time!

Divine Secrets is not a book to educate, it's a book to remind. It is mostly anecdotes, illustrating the characters in the book, and their relationships. It reminds you of laughing, and of not giving a damn, and of taking care of each other through good and bad and standing up for yourself.

It's a good book.

When I saw an ad for the book, I told [livejournal.com profile] sambear, "I must be getting old. I want to see a chick flick."

My name is Marchioness White Thunder. Katie's name is Princess Wants-It-All. Geni is Duchess Stinging Scorpion.

I'm big on reading books before I see the movies...but I never got around to reading it before...and now the movie is out...but I've sworn to myself to read it...so I go buy it, right? The cover says it's a SEQUEL! (sp?) DAMNIT! So now, b/c I'm anal, I have to read BOTH books before I see the movie. I sure hope it plays for a while...hee hee

Little Altars Everywhere is the other book. I reeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally didn't like it. :-/ However, I definitely loved Divine Secrets. :)

Woooohoooo! Now I have an excuse to not read it since I heard it wasn't good...hee hee.... :)

Seriously though...will Devine Secrets make sense w/o reading the first?

Divine Secrets makes perfect sense without reading Little Altars. I read Divine Secrets, and then discovered Little Altars on one of my mom's bookshelves. I then picked it (Little Altars) up and attempted to read it, but I got frustrated (couldn't stand half the book) and ended up just skimming it.
Even without reading Little Altars, Divine Secrets is still one of my favorite books. ;)
