Okay...

If anyone has any idea why, on the hottest day of the year so far, lil' ol' heat-sensitive me is sitting at work drinking a non-iced cappuccino, could they let me know?

You're a sadist?

Cause you already know you're hotter than the temperature will ever be?

'cause they're yummy and full of caffein-y goodness?

Because on very hot days, your body will push more blood to the capilaries in the hands and feet, where they're closer to the skin, in an attempt to cool the body off, this effect causes light-headedness and spaciness. Caffeine forces the blood vessels in the extremities to contract, bringing more blood back to the brain, and makes you feel level headed again.

Berbers in the Egiptian desert drink mint-flavored coffee to prevent getting disoriented and passing out in the heat.

Just remeber to drink more water so you don't get more dehydrated.

I bet you wanted a flippant answer, right? ;-)

Heat's just a state of mind. (Like everything else, I suppose.) :)
