Apparently my mom is on one of her email-forwarding kicks today. I know in the past I've complained about her sending me dirty jokes, but I think I'd rather her send me those than what she's sending today, which is Heartwarming Claptrap (tm).

An excerpt:

"Send this to the people you'll never forget and

remember to send it also to the person that sent

it to you. It's a short message to let them know

that you'll never forget them.

If you don't send it to anyone, it means you're

in a hurry and that you've forgotten your

friends."

No, actually, it means I love my friends very much and don't want to send them cheesy forwards that will send them into insulin shock. Or maybe it means I have a good sense of self-preservation and don't want to get my ass kicked.

you forgot me. I'm hurt. I may go out and jump in front of a bus.

My grandmother sends me about 5-10 of those a day. I've stopped telling her how much I hate them and just delete them now.

I thank you so much for not forwarding me that "smarmy crap". You such an angel.......snarky.....but still and angel.

Geez I hate that shit!

My mother has sense enough not to send me that stuff; she hates it as much as I do. My sister, on the other hand.... I once threatened to drive from NY to FL and personally rip out her modem if she didn't stop.

why is it that mothers feel the need to send crap like that out? my mother does it all the time too!

It's almost as if a squad of Care Bears wrote that email. When they were done, the outcast Care Bear ("Guilt Bear"? "Devil Bear?"...do Care Bears even have monikers like that) added that final note to spite his brethren.

AMEN! I get this shit from dad and my friend Kev all the time. It. Grates. Me. BAD!

That's the reason I didn't give my sister my new e-mail address. I was sick of the glurge, as snopes.com calls it.

My mom sends me that forwarded claptrap too.

I had to give my sister my Gmail address; she kept sending batches of huge pictures of the kids and kept locking up my inbox. Which is actually better than getting that sort of glurge -- excellent word! -- at my primary addy.

I have an aunt who seems to believe that the only function of e-mail is to forward everything you receive to everyone you know. I set up a filter so all her messages go into their own little folder until I'm bored enough to deal with them.

Every now and then, I send a debunking when she sends a shopworn urban legnd, but she doesn't seem to have taken the hint just yet.

Mums think that sending crap like that stuff makes them *cool* (like most everyone else did at some point).

I get about six or eight of those danm things a week from my mother. Most of 'em have already been forwarded to every-friggin'-body in the world already so I delete them without opening them. I mean.. like..yeah.I want to catch up on the latest email viruses, mom...riiiight.

Most of what I get seems to be centered around how cute grandkids can be.

Yeah...riiiight.

I agree w/you about the schmaltzy emails, I freakin' hate those things. Don't guilt me into sending you crap, just be happy I talk to you at all. Ya know? We have several friends in common and your writing makes me laugh, so I'm adding you! :)
