So just for the record...

Last night involved an episode of Law and Order that I actually hadn't seen five billion times, takeout from Your Dekalb Farmer's Market, two glasses [not bottles] of cheap wine, and the Tetris Disappointment.

See, I had ordered a used Game Boy off EBay solely for the purpose of playing Tetris. I had done this last year and gotten more than my $5.50's worth of enjoyment before the screen crapped out (which wasn't entirely unexpected, considering that said Game Boy was advertised as having a fucked-up screen). But this Game Boy didn't say anything in the listing about a fucked-up screen. So you can guess how displeased I was when, after less than an hour of Tetrisy goodness, the screen stopped working. The sound was still going, but the screen was gone. Not just hard to see like on the previous one, but GONE. Not amused. At the same time, I don't suppose there's anything I can do about it. It's not like the seller knew the screen was about to crap out and misled me or anything. That stuff's unpredictable.

So... does anyone want an old Game Boy for their aspiring geek kids to dissect? Better yet, does anyone have a gently-used Game Boy they'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price?

So between the Game Boy and the Lakers, I'm not in a very good mood. In fact, I'm in an intensely cynical mood. Maybe it'll pass once this season of The Shield is over. I'll certainly be more fun to hang out with on Tuesday nights, anyway. (As said to multiple parties: "Okay, I can hang out, but only till 10:40, because then I can catch the encore of The Shield and I'll be bitchy all week if I miss it." Which is different from normal HOW, exactly?)

Plus something that shouldn't be bothering me is bothering me, nonetheless. It's funny how you can decide that something does not bother you on an intellectual level but still it tugs at your reptilian brain.

I wish my reptilian brain were half as amusing as [livejournal.com profile] atomicnumber51's.

It's not important. It'll pass. Probably by lunchtime, in fact.

How fucking long do I have to wait for the extended edition of Return of the King?

I had a semi-witty line I was going to end this post on but I forgot it. I know it involved "yo", though, yo.

Like, the old-school, color Game Boy? Not the spiffy new one? If it's the old one you're after, I have one I never use that I'll give you. Someone gave it to me from a lost and found box, it had some Pokemon game in it I could never figure out how to play, and I've never bothered to look for other games. It's sitting in the closet collecting dust. It's yours if you want it. :)

For real?! *eeeeep!!* And color, did you say?

[identity profile] tyrantmouth.livejournal.com 2004-05-25 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! This one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000296ZM/002-6310877-4641629?v=glance&s=videogames

You want? Seriously, I've never used it, it's just sitting in the closet.

The Lakers

I was fortunate enough, on my desolate rock in the middle of the ocean, to see game 2 in the Timberwolves - Lakers series, and they're noooowhere near finished. That having been said, though - Shaq is scary when he actually moves - especially when he spends extended amounts of court time (the basketball - not the Kobe type) comPLETELY immovable, like in game 2. If Kobe's in Colorado, Payton is old, Shaq is slow and Malone is busy thumping backup point guards into oblivion, I think this series may very well provide the results we all want - Minnesota vs. Detroit in the finals :D

Eeeep!! Eeeeep!! Hell yeah, I'd LOVE it!!!

I've decided I really don't care how it happens or who does it, I just want the Lakers humiliated -- and almost as importantly, all the sports journalists who keep kissing their asses (*COUGH*StephenA.Smith*COUGH*).

I'm more of a Pacers girl, though, myself. ;)

How fucking long do I have to wait for the extended edition of Return of the King?

[livejournal.com profile] weetanya reports that it may arrive as late as December or January (bad) but that it may be released in theaters first (hooray!) with a possible Super Trilogy Tuesday.

cheers,
Phil

I know you got an offer for a free GBC, but if GBC really is your thing, you should start saving up so you can geta PSP or a Nintendo DS. I'm not into portable video gaming, but for those who are... the fun has only just begun.

[identity profile] kellinator.livejournal.com 2004-05-25 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, but I'll probably just stick with the GBS... truly, I just want it for Tetris. I've never been coordinated enough to be any good at video games, sadly.

I'll get it in the mail to you sometime this week. :)

YARR! Infidel! Non-conformist! And Several Other Words!

*ahem*

Agreed though - and all sports journalists are idiots en masse. It's a job requirement.

You're welcome. :)
