Not that I even like football...

Well, Auburn finally won a game, and in convincing fashion. Against Vanderbilt.

Some things never change, and one of 'em is it sucks to be a Vandy fan. Maybe we should schedule more Division II teams. Yeah, it's the wussy way out, but moral victories got old a long time ago.

Man. My alma mater doesn't have a football team, though basketball is big. It's for the best, though, really.

I mean, Peter the Anteater isn't in nearly as much danger near the court as he would be near the field, and yelling, "Zot-zot-zot, goooo 'eaters!" doesn't sound nearly as ridiculous indoors (though it's always silly). It could be worse. :P

What's your alma mater?

They eliminated the athletics department this week, merged it with Student Affairs and demoted the AD. So Vandy might be headed down the Div. II road anyway.

One of Vandy's players suffered some sort of back injury in today's game. I saw them trying to stabilize him on the field. I figure that might have messed with them a little.

Auburn was out for blood, and Vandy was in their path. It's unfortunate, as I thought they were looking good.

UC Irvine. Not as badly off as UC Santa Cruz with its banana slugs; overall, the anteater is a pretty cute mascot (lots of cuddly stuffed animals, y'know?), but it's not all that... athletic. *grin*

We've got the Commodore. It's hard to make a cuddly stuffed animal out of him...

Yeah, I kinda had a feeling this was going to happen...

I don't think Vandy's going to leave Division I anytime soon. From what I hear, Gee's really into athletics and the effect of this will be closer university control over them... maybe a reaction to scandals at schools like Baylor?
