Should I stay or should I go?
Like it's a question. I have to go anyway, since flaky roommate is kicking me out. But today I went to check out a basement apartment and I'm trying to decide if I should take it. The apartment is furnished, in the home of a couple who I'd guess are in their late 50s-early 60s.
Pluses:
+ they seem very nice
+ they have an adorable Jack Russell terrier and multiple cats which they will share with me
+ year lease
+ apparently the last kid to have the basement got along with them
+ they didn't object to several of my concerns (like occasionally having friends over)
+ they have cable
+ washer and dryer in my apartment
+ they offered to waive the credit check when I announced that "George W. Bush is an idiot"
Minuses:
- the cost: $695 a month (though, this is utilities included)
- the weirdness of sharing space, even though I have my own apartment. Do I really want to curtail my lively (ha ha) life by sharing space with an older couple?
- the fear of the unknown (they could be wackos!!)
I'm going to think it over. Any opinions?
